CONSENT MATTERS 2024

Launched in January 2016, the Consent Matters campaign (#ConsentMatters 天美mv天美) is an annual campaign hosted by the Sexual Violence Support & Prevention Office (SVSPO). The primary goal of the Consent Matters campaign is to foster a culture of consent, care, and respect at 天美mv天美 and FIC by:

  • Familiarizing the 天美mv天美 and FIC community (students, staff, and faculty) with the concept of affirmative consent
  • Offering ideas for how to practice consent in various settings
  • Sharing information to increase awareness about the SVSPO鈥檚 support and educational services

Consent Matters 2024: Beyond the Click

For the 2024 #ConsentMatters 天美mv天美 campaign, 天美mv天美鈥檚 Sexual Violence Support & Prevention Office hosted Beyond the Click: The Importance of Digital Consent, an online conversation with researcher and assistant professor in Criminology at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Alexa Dodge, and advocate and support worker, Val Hathiraman. The conversation was hosted and facilitated by 天美mv天美 student Salom茅 Mengo-Morales. The guest speakers shared practical insights and experience researching and supporting people who have been impacted by technology-facilitated gender-based violence. We invite you to watch the recording below. (Please note that the event was recorded in focus mode, which is why you are unable to see both speakers and host at the same time).
