Synopsis
Squeezed light has a wide range of applications in the field of quantum information. It reduces the quantum noise in one quadrature below vacuum at the expense of increased noise in the conjugate quadrature while obeying the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. In this talk I will introduce the mechanics of squeezed light, and provide some examples of how it is generated in practise. I will also discuss a couple of interesting applications of squeezed light.
