Driven by a deep curiosity for research and a passion to solve real-world challenges with cutting-edge technology, PhD student has always aspired to be a research scientist dedicated to driving innovation and creating a meaningful societal impact.

Miangoleh is a researcher in the led by Assistant Professor Yagiz Aksoy specializing in multi-camera 3D reconstruction.

鈥淚magine capturing photos or videos from different angles and transforming them into precise 3D models of real-world environments,鈥 he explains. 鈥淭his technology has applications in autonomous driving, augmented reality, and robotics 鈥 enabling safer navigation, more immersive virtual experiences, and enhanced scene understanding.鈥

Some defining moments in his academic career include recognition from leading researchers, being featured in prestigious journals like , and receiving the 天美mv天美 FAS Scholarship. These accomplishments highlight the real-world relevance of his research and validate its significance in the field.

While research has been rewarding, Miangoleh acknowledges that setbacks are a natural part of the process. Reflecting on his challenges, he notes that the most valuable lessons he's learned are the importance of persistence and adaptability.

鈥淩esearch often presents unexpected challenges, but staying committed and learning from each obstacle has been essential,鈥 he says. He also emphasizes the value of collaboration, explaining that it brings diverse perspectives from peers and inspires him to develop more innovative and effective solutions.

Beyond academia, Miangoleh has actively sought opportunities to apply his research in industry settings. Internships at Adobe and Bosch offered him valuable hands-on experience, enabling him to tackle industrial challenges while gaining a deeper understanding of the intersection between academia and industry.

Miangoleh chose to pursue graduate studies at 天美mv天美 Computing Science because of its strong research output, particularly in visual computing and graphics, as well as its collaborative community. 鈥淭he faculty and my lab members have been incredibly supportive, offering mentorship and guidance that have been instrumental in shaping my research direction,鈥 he says. Additionally, through TA-ships, Miangoleh has gained valuable teaching experience, improving his ability to communicate complex ideas to students. Research assistantship opportunities in the School have further enhanced his technical skills, directly supporting his research.

As he looks ahead to the next stage of his career, Miangoleh is eager to continue advancing and refining AI-driven 3D reconstruction. Whether in academia, industry, or launching his own startup, Miangoleh is committed to developing technology that enhances how people perceive and interact with the world.

Miangoleh advises fellow graduate students to 鈥渃hoose a research topic that genuinely excites you, as passion is key to staying motivated. Don鈥檛 be afraid to explore interdisciplinary ideas. And remember, balance is essential, make time for personal growth and creative pursuits to stay inspired!鈥

Through his dedication to research, resilience in overcoming challenges, and passion for innovation, Miangoleh is making significant contributions to the field of computer science, where the possibilities are endless.
