School of Sustainable Energy Engineering
2025 Holiday Message from the SEE Director
Our school has completed another successful year, marked by advancements in our programs, enhanced student engagement, ground-breaking research achievements, and important institutional developments. The SEE team has worked tirelessly to achieve new levels of excellence across teaching, research, and outreach.
As we close out the year, we do so with a sense of accomplishment!
In accordance with ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ requirements, SEE underwent its first external review this year. The review team — comprising leaders in interdisciplinary engineering fields — had strong commendations for what the school has achieved in a relatively short period of time. They were particularly impressed by the enthusiasm and energy of our students, and provided valuable insights and ideas that will help position SEE as a global leader in the sustainable energy domain.
This year also marked the arrival of the first cohort of graduate students in our Master of Engineering (MEng) program. After engaging with them in an energy-policy course that I co-taught with a colleague in the Political Science, I can say with confidence that this is one of the most energetic groups of students I have encountered.
Another highlight was the well-attended and highly engaging Town Hall meeting with our undergraduate students. While students expressed strong satisfaction with their experience at SEE, they also identified opportunities for further improvement. I am pleased that we now have a clear action plan in place to guide our efforts moving forward.
Our undergraduate and graduate alumni continue to make meaningful contributions across the energy and clean tech sectors. Many are beginning to assume leadership roles in organizations and companies. It is deeply rewarding to see such impact from a young and growing school.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for our next accreditation visit. We will also be releasing an updated Strategic Plan in early 2026.
On a personal note, 2025 has been a particularly rewarding year. I am grateful for the confidence expressed by my colleagues in supporting the continuation of my role as Director. Working alongside such dedicated and brilliant minds is a privilege that goes beyond words.
I wish the entire SEE community, along with all our collaborators, a joyful and festive holiday season. See you in 2026!
