Chantal Gibson wins Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize at the BC and Yukon Book Prizes
Chantal Gibson, instructor of written and visual communication courses in the School of Interactive Arts & Technology, has been named the winner of the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize at the .
The BC and Yukon Book Prizes was established in 1985 with the mission of recognizing, celebrating, and promoting the achievements of the book community in BC and Yukon through the Book Prizes and related programs.
The Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize was awarded to Gibson for her debut collection , a collection of poems about the representation of Black women, their hearts, minds and bodies, across the Canadian cultural imagination. How She Read also won the Pat Lowther Memorial Award at the League of Canadian Poets Awards and was shortlisted for the 2020 Griffin Poetry Prize.
