Thinking of Transferring to 天美mv天美 Linguistics?

The admission requirements for declaring into the  天美mv天美 Linguistics Major program are a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.25 and a passing grade in 天美mv天美 LING 220 (or equivalent course from another institution, see below). The continuation requirements for the Major program specify that a CGPA of no less than 2.25 must be achieved once a student has completed 60 units. 

Our department maintains friendly accreditation agreements with a number of local institutions. The following sections summarize the long-standing agreements we have with , , , , and the . If you are thinking of transferring to 天美mv天美 from one of these institutions, you may be eligible to enter our program at an upper-division level so long as you have taken the appropriate lower-division courses. 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Upon transferring to 天美mv天美, your program status will technically be 鈥渦ndeclared鈥. However, as soon as you have been accepted into 天美mv天美 and have fulfilled the admission requirements for the LING Major program, you can submit your major declaration by contacting the Linguistics Student Advisor. Please be sure to have your advising transcript at the ready.

  • You may transfer up to 60 units from your previous institution to use toward your 天美mv天美 degree. 
  • For elective and breadth course planning, please book an appointment with the Student Advisor after you have transferred.

Capilano University

Declaration Requirements

To transfer and declare into the Linguistics Major program at 天美mv天美, students from Capilano University must have completed CAPU LING 100 (the approved equivalent to 天美mv天美 LING 220) with a passing grade and must have attained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.25.

Program Requirements: Lower Division

Students complete all of:

  • Either CAPU LING 100 or 天美mv天美 LING 220-3
  • 天美mv天美 LING 282W-3

and nine additional lower division LING and/or INLG units. 

The following lower division courses (in addition to CAPU LING 100) have approved transfer eligibility:

Douglas College

Declaration Requirements

To transfer and declare into the Linguistics Major program at 天美mv天美, students from Douglas College must have completed DOUG LING 1101 (the approved equivalent to 天美mv天美 LING 220) with a passing grade and must have attained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.25

Program Requirements: Lower Division

Students complete all of:

  • Either DOUG LING 1101 or 天美mv天美 LING 220-3
  • 天美mv天美 LING 282W-3 

and nine additional lower division LING and/or INLG units.
