Oral Histories of ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ
Members of the ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀRA Executive Board have produced six DVDs containing interviews of several members of faculty, staff and students who were at ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ in the 1960s.
The Excitement of the Early Years
Length: 60 min
Our first Oral History DVD, "The Excitement of the Early Years", produced in 2005, combines interviews of thirteen students, staff and faculty from the 1965-1969 period. Participants interviewed on this DVD are Ron Baker, Marilyn Cairns, Win Caldwell, Roy Carlson, Harry Evans, Allen Garr, Maurice Gibbons, Thelma Finlayson, Malcolm Page, Klaus Rieckhoff, Stan Smith, Hal Weinberg and Stan Wong.
The Instant University
Length: 60 min
The second DVD, "The Instant University", also combines interviews of thirteen students, staff and faculty from the 1965-1969 period, and was produced in 2006. Participants in this production are: Dave Cutler, Susan Digney, Lorne March, Margaret Jones, Nini Baird, Dennis Roberts, Ken Strand, Kenji Okuda, Alan Aberbach, Elinor Ames, Andrea Lebowitz, Leigh Palmer and Shue Tuck Wong.
Included with the interviews are film clips and photographs from that period. Joel Schwarz of the Learning and Instructional Development Centre filmed and edited both DVDs.
Thelma Finalyson: A Conversation with John Webster
Length: 60 min
Our third DVD, "Thelma Finlayson – A Conversation with John Webster", is an interview by John Webster of Thelma Finlayson, ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ's Grand Lady of Science. Francis Campbell of the LIDC filmed and edited this DVD in 2007.
A Conversation with Erickson and Massey ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ Architects
Length: 30 min
This interview of the Simon Fraser Architects Arthur Erickson and Geoffey Massey was held at ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ on October 18, 2006 by the Executive Board of the ÌìÃÀmvÌìÃÀ Retirees Association.
Leigh Hunt Palmer conducted the interview consisting of questions submitted by the Executive Board. We gratefully acknowledge the services of Bev and Einar Carlson in arranging the interview. Francis Campbell of the Teaching and Learning Centre filmed and edited the interview.
