Small Number is a little boy, and he is always getting into mischief.

He is in the care of his grandparents, for, they put up with the way he plays.

Grandpa has to carve a feast dish, 鈥済o out and play with the other children.鈥

The boys learned if they want their stones to go far, they had to use a flat oval shape stone.

鈥淗ow many people do you think will fit in there?鈥, asked Big Circle.

The boys forgot the game they had been playing.

They were talking about the canoe wondering who could have used it.

As they were talking Big Circle's tummy began to growl.

I'm hungry 鈥淟et's go eat鈥, he says to his friends, and they all ran home.

'K铆x虒vla Haula色as h谩usl蹋谩 l谩in虛akv, La la'asas g虒ag虒m蹋pasi k虛i谩lagi色 wusg虒miy虛as q虛谩ikaska'谩u谩s 色煤q虛va.
Small number ran home, at the place where Grandpa was carving the surface of a huge (wooden) dish.
Gi h虛au谩 h虛谩tl蹋谩, Gi h虛au谩 t虛ix虒s铆sta d煤x虒v'it.
And he shouted, and he looked up
D煤qvl蹋谩i h虛谩xv谩y谩 la w虛煤gv铆w谩yas h谩ul谩色as h谩usl蹋谩.
He saw the bruise on Small Number's forehead.
'W铆x'铆txdas nix g虒谩g虒m谩 h谩um.
鈥淲hat happened?鈥 asked Grandpa.

'茮l铆sta h谩ula色as h谩usl谩-ya lay虛asi t虛s'谩la h谩ixt虛i谩si, gi ni色as qakay虛si gl蹋虂w虛a.
Small Number had forgotten that he bumped his head and started to tell Grandpa about finding the canoe.
'Q谩k谩n煤gva glw虛a gvau色 la wil虛iax虒i laganmits w虛煤p虛nxst谩is'ila w虛谩sa虛l谩sasi.
I found an old canoe down on the beach. It must be at least a hundred years old.
Ml蹋虂xvl谩 g虒谩g虒谩mpa q虛a'谩u茮n蹋ugva gl蹋虂w虛谩y谩x虒i Mn煤kvis yix谩l谩gvuts gl蹋虂w虛as qnts gv煤kvi谩sax虒.
Grandpa smiled, 鈥渋t was one of the fastest canoes of our village鈥.

鈥淚t was built by my father and two of his brothers.鈥

Grandpa proudly continued, 鈥渁ll the sons of my grandfather were known as the great carvers鈥.

鈥淵ou know those three (old) totem poles in front of the bighouse?鈥

One evening before going to sleep, Small Number thought, 鈥淚'd like to build a canoe and totem poles just like my ancestors鈥.

鈥淚 will ask my grandfather tomorrow how many brothers his father had, two, three, four, five or more.鈥

Question: Why did Small Number think his great grandpa had two, three, four, five great grandparents?
